Activities

Punta del Este, also called "Miami of South America", is well know, among other things, as one of the most important and exclusive seaside resorts in South America, as well as the watering hole of the international jet set. A Beach resort by excellence, natural and sofisticated, nowadays counts with a Rambla, suntous houses typical of beach resorts, modern high buildings, a port with a great infrastructure and mooring, shops of well known brands, restaurants, pubs, casinos, etc.

Punta del Este Beaches
The beach resort offers two different types of coasts: Brava and Mansa. All the beaches in the peninsula present cristaline waters, perfect for swimming and for the practice of sports. Playa Mansa is characterized by its tranquile waters, while Playa Brava presents big waves. Both beaches present either white pristine sands or golden thick sands. In the majority of these small spots there are small restaurants. Some of the most well-known beaches in the peninsula:

Mansa Beach

Mansa Beach extends from the "Chileno" to the Punta del Este port. Its a blue bay of quiet waters. Its depth varies; its really deep in the "Chileno" and becomes more shallow when it gets closer to the port. There are shops that offer wave riders, jet skis, kite surfs, windsurfs, and elastic beds rentals. There are several paradores with parking and good gastronomy, and an acquatic park. This is the natural scenery for yatching, big cruises, whale watching during winter time (August until October), and the ideal place for fishing "pejerreyes".

Brava Beach

The Brava Beach is one of the busiest beaches in Punta del Este. Located very close to the peninsula and it has its own parking. It is well-known for the sculpture of a hand submerged in the sand, built in 1982 by the chilenian artist Mario Irrazabal. It presents thick sands and very dangerous waves. The waves that form there are chosen by surfers. A lot of small paradores can be found there: they offer gastronomic services and beach umbrella rentals.

Ingleses Beach

Playa de los Ingleses is a small beach located next to the port of Punta del Este. Made of thin sand and rocks, its catalogued by tourists as very dangerous. Owe to its proximity to the Peninsula, it presents a very strong wind.

Manantiales Beach

Manantiales beach is characterized by its great amount of sand, deep waters and waves. Its visited by the jet-set. There, nautic sports, volley, gym and surf are practiced.

Chihuahua Beach

In the mouth of Potrero Stream, where Del Sauce Lake drains, this beach can be found, frequented by people who practice nudism.
